Rwanda applies the EAC common external tariff (CET) on the c.i.f. (cost, insurance and freight) value of imports.

Goods imported from the EAC benefit from preferential tariff treatment, while those imported from COMESA member countries benefit from reciprocity treatment according to the following categories:
COMESA A: 0% ;
COMESA B: 2% (intermediate goods) or 5% (finished goods);
COMESA C: 9% (Intermediate goods) or 22.5% (Finished goods).

Additional information

Rwanda applies the EAC common external tariff (CET) on the c.i.f. (cost, insurance and freight) value of imports. The following three band duty structure applies to imports from outside of the EAC:
Raw Materials: 0%
Intermediate goods: 10%
Finished goods: 25%.
Value added tax of 18% is also applied.

Goods from the East African are exempted from this tax and some other COMESA countries pay a reduced price.
